Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick stated, It was the backers of the Kickstarter campaign that convinced Nightdive that the remake was headed in the wrong direction. The successful campaign raised $1.3 million backed by over 21,000 people. Nightdive created a Kickstarter campaign in June 2016 to give players a "faithful reboot" of the original 1994 game. After announcing a hiatus on production of the game back in February, Nightdive Studios has now revealed to PC Gamer that System Shock will be released in early 2020. This has also given us time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that needed that extra shine.
